Aim

The safety in industrial activity has drawn utmost attention in maintaining certain safety standards which are not detrimental or injurious to the industrial community. The dissemination of knowledge in the field of safety and working environment through effective communication and education is considered as one of the effective tools in rejuvenating the minds of working personnel. The objective is to propagate safety and health and inculcate the safe work procedures for incident free production activity. The Institute has been registered under the Karnataka Societies Registration Act, 1960 this year vide registration No. 186/2007-08, dated: 31.03.2008

Objective

Institute organizes awareness programmes for workers on the issues of safety, health and work environment. It conducts training Programmes in different modules on need basis to shop floor, supervisory and management level personnel in the factory premises itself. Workshop/Seminars will also be held for the senior officers of the management of the factory on the subjects safety, health and personal development etc., Safety, Welfare, Personal and Medical Officers who are supposed to safeguard the interest workers working the factories are also training through this institute on their roles and responsibilities.

It organizes a meaningful and purposeful National Safety Day falling on 4th March. Safety March and Safety Exhibition will be organized to propagate the message of safety. The department has been organizing the camp with more vigour to medically examine a section of the work force who were denied of this facility to monitor their health status. The department is recognizing the industries who follow the “Best Safe Practices”, “Best Maintenance of Boilers” and is awarding a reward to encourage them to maintain high standards in the field of Safety and Health. The department is also recognizing the workmen who put in their best efforts in the field of safety and rewarding them at par with industries. Apart from this competitions like Safety Quiz, Safety Slogan Writing, Safety Essay Writing, Safety Posters are conducted at the local level and suitable awards are being distributed at the public function organized at the said occasion. And Chemical Disaster Prevention Day falling on 4th December of every year will also be conducted in a meaningful manner by holding a special training programmes for the hazardous process industries.

It brings out a quarterly in house news magazine of the department namely Suraksha Vahini which contains a number of articles related to safety, health and environment, brief description of the recent accidents with solutions, the government notifications and information on various other supportive activities that are undertaken by the department at various levels and forums. The quarterly news letter also carries certain useful advertisements which are relevant to the industries in maintaining safe work culture.

 

AWARENESS TRAINING PROGRAMMES :

  The Karnataka State Safety Institute organizes following awareness training programmes;

•  The Institute commonly organizes one day safety training programmes for the workers working in the factories on the issues of safety, health and work environment in factory premises itself. Safety, welfare, personal and medical officers who are suppose to safe guard the interest of workers in factories are also trained trough this institute on their roles and responsibilities.

•  Participant fee of Rs. 300/- has been fixed for each participant attending the training programme in the factory premises itself.

•  Participant fee of Rs. 500/- has been fixed for each participant attending the training programme out side the factory premises.

•  Workshops / Seminars will also be organized through the institute for the senior officers of the management of the factory on the subjects viz safety health, law and personal development etc. The Institute also conducts training programmes in different modules on need basis to shop floor, supervisory and management level personal.

•  Participant fee will be fixed accordingly depending on one day / two day training programmes to the participant attending the programmes.

•  Training shall be paid to “Secretary, Karnataka State Safety Institute, Bangalore ” in the form of cheque/DD/Payorder only.

SURAKSHA VAHINI QUARTERLY MAGAZINE :

  The Karnataka State Safety Institute brings out a quarterly in house news magazine of the department namely Suraksha Vahini which contains a number of articles related to safety, health and environment, brief description of the recent accidents with solutions, the government notifications and information on various other supportive activities that are undertaken by the department at various levels and forums. The quarterly news letter also carries certain useful advertisements which are relevant to the industries in maintaining safe work culture.

•  Institute has fixed annual subscription fee of Rs. 300/- for each subscriber.

•  The Institute also enrolls subscribers for 5 years with a subscription fee of Rs. 1500/-

•  Subscription fee shall be paid to “Secretary, Karnataka State Safety Institute, Bangalore ” in the form of cheque/DD/Payorder only
